Re: The Robin Williams Doxa 5000T Military

I was going to bid for this watch when it came up for auction. In advance I put up my guitar and some other watches for sale to try to raise about $10K (wild, I know) to secure the watch. I read all the terms and conditions, and signed upon the Sotheby's site well in advance - only to find out the day of the auction that the auction was held on a secondary site. I think I actually cried when I found out that one had to register on the secondary site at least 24 hours in advance to get approval to bid - I even rang both Sotheby's and the secondary site helplines to try to put a rush on the approval to be able to bid, to no avail.

I am shaking now, just typing this, thinking that this watch "should have been mine" - I have never wanted a watch more than this one (except maybe Robin's IWC Double Chrono Pilot's watch - which was not part of the auction).

You are a lucky guy to have secured this watch. I have seen your collection on IG, and you don't seem to need to flip watches every now and then to raise funds for new watches - so me making an obscene bid for this watch is most likely just a waste of time. Despite my sadness, I am still glad to see you wear the watch every now and then, and enjoying it. I will just have to live with the fact that this is the one that got away, but it will forever leave a scar on my heart.

    Welcome to the forum.

Wow, Robin Williams had a Doxa Sub in his collection? Nice. Since young I had always admired him as a great artist.
