    Silver 300T sharkhunter questions#

    Hello,

I want to ask for help to have more information about my silver sharkhunter, specially about its dial, because I can't found other like this.

My opinion is that 300t have the dial replaced, because is a first generation (before synchrony era).
Thinner case, old bezel design, ship case back with 2 rings around it, antique serial number, first generation BOR bracelet, with "doxa sub 300" signed.... And all aspect like the first 300t.

Talking about the movement, it could have the doxa 118, or the eta 2472, because don't have the quickset date.

So, all that, give me to think that dial was replaced, because have the synchron logo, later than the other configuration of the watch, that I believe would be a Orange professional, because the hands are black.

    What do you think about?

And What do you think about the dial? Is very rare, because is a silver sharkhunter, and also with the synchron logo at same time with the aqualung logo (rare to see that), and I don't be able to find other identical, on internet neither on doxa book, forums.. Etc.

Anyone seen something like this one?

I'll be grateful about any information!!

    Best regards!

I think your assumption is correct. The dial must have been replaced during service. I have seen many dials, mostly black sharkhunter, with the synchron and aqualung logo but they all have the later style bezel i.e. not smooth on the time side. All the examples I have seen in "Original condition" With the synchron and aqualung a la "Cousteau" example have the insert where the depth is not smooth and extends to the edges unlike your example smooth and short index markers on the depth. Typical 66xxxx type serial (sail boat in a circle) have the smooth insert and non sychron dial. They have aqualung with feet depth marker and no aqualung with meters depth marker. My experience is just based on what I have seen and handled in person.

I have heard from many early owners that service was common and often due to water intrusion so a dial replacement is not unusual.

Some of the vintage Doxa subs did have the wrong dial names placed on them https://forums.watchuseek.com/f34/two...hes-51081.html

and here they talk about it http://www.doxa300t.com/sharkhunter/sharkindex.htm

    Thank you all!

In fact is no doubt, that the dial was replaced by a rare silver sharkhunter, and the era of this dial is not the same of the rest of the watch.

The information you are providing confirms the first assumptions.

More information and comments will be welcome.

    Greetings.

Silver dial sharkhunters seem to be quite abundant. Misprint at the factory or cost savings at the factory. I have see quite a few silver sharkies - mostly non synchron but both with aqualung could be attributed to a specific period which I will try to investigate. So I can only assume the silver sharkie with sychron logo follows the factory pattern mis print or cost savings.
