Does Kobold design their own movement?

Or they are a just a over price watch with nothing special, buying movement from other and design their own case and dial and strap? Do they have their own real manufacture like Seiko, omega or citizen? Or they outsource everything? The way I see it this company is nothing more than a publicity stunt

At this point it’s tough to say if they can even outsource anything, Let alone build their own. Read the thread above

No. Kobold has always used off-the-self movements and never had an an in-house one. Most of Kobold's cases came from Fricker too.

Then why people are paying out rages price for these watches made in Pittsburgh in the middle of no where? Basically they get all the parts off the shelf and slapped them together and put and their name on. I donít think they have any watch proprietary technology to show the company for what is worth. Crazy people will buy anything!

Currently, I donít think anyone is paying any amount of money to buy anything from Kobold.
When Kobold was successful, the watches were nicely designed, well made, and relatively affordable. As prices went up, quality went down.

The early Kobolds were a great value. Parts sourced from top Swiss suppliers and Sinn and well made. Still have my Limits A, was wearing it today.

The vast majority of the watches from Switzerland use ETA, Ronda, Miyota, or other movements instead of something they designed themselves. They may apply a special decoration to that ETA, or they may regulate it to ensure that it runs within a certain tolerance.

So why pick on Kobold over this particular issue?

Pretty sure James Gandolfini designed the movements. :)

Nepal? Why the hell they chose Nepal? From what I read they only made straps and other garbage or junk accessories. And Mr Kobold is a scam artist. As of right now there is no Kobold subsidiary in Nepal. The Nepal Sherpa didnít get paid and they abandoned the shop and went back to mountain climbing business.
