Help me choose my 50th birthday gift to myself

So I pretty much narrowed my choice to either the IWC516401 Portofino Hand-wound 8 days Moon phase or the IW501005 Big Pilot’s Watch Heritage 7 days as shown below which are 45 & 46mm respectively.
However my wrist is only about 6.5” and I am afraid the watch will be too big. My wife jokingly saying it will look like a small Captain America’s shields on my wrist!

Anyone with the same/similar wrist with this watch?
    Thank you all...

I've got a 6.5 in wrist, and the 43mm pilot's chrono is pushing it. The best thing you can do is get out to a boutique or AD and try them on.

2 beautiful watches, but i'm also afraid that either one will look too big on your wrist.
however. there are lots of other IWC watches that come in a moderate size. just to name a few:

Le Petit Prince chrono pilot in 43mm
Top Gun in black ceramic 44.5mm
    Portuguese 7-D PR 42mm
    another Portuguese annual calendar 44mm

have you tried on the BP ?. if so, then how about the Lugs?, if they extend beyond the crest of your wrist. then it's too big for you. it'll definitely look like a dinner place on your wrist.

i suggest to take your time and try a few pieces on before buying something on a whim. remember it's a large purchase and you don't wanna have remorse shortly after buying it. this is something you gonna wear for many years.
but again. try a few pieces on and have someone take pictures of you from a 5 or 6 feet distance. it will help you have a better perspective of the whole thing.

best of luck with your choice.

Same size wrist, and yes, both will look too big, I’m afraid! If I am being honest with myself even my 43mm Portugieser 8 Day is a little too big for me, no matter how much I love the watch ...

Have you seen the new IWC Spitfire pilot’s chronograph? 41mm + and an in-house movement to boot .. might be worth taking a look.

But at the end of the day - if you're happy with how the BP or Portofino looks on your wrist, buy it and enjoy it. The watch is for your enjoyment, no one else's.

If you think one of those looks great on your wrist, go for it.

I prefer the BP. Love those blue hands.

Thanks a lot gentlemen! I will definitely visit my AD and tried it out. I know deep inside that this will be big from the numbers alone but the fact that I really love these models makes me want to have a second thoughts from the experts here. Just want to ensure I don’t make a big mistake/remorse in my purchase!
    Thanks again.

Re: Help me choose my 50th birthday gift to myself

At 6.75" my wrist is a wee bit larger than yours - I can't pull of the Big Pilot. Love that watch and have tried it several times, but true to its name, it's too big, unfortunately.

I do have the 42 mm Portuguese and that one is pushing the limit. Some might argue it's already too big, but I have decided / convinced myself that it is okay, Objectively, though, my Mark XVI is a much better fit.

Happy Birthday and good luck with your decision.

    Thank you all!
With your feedback, I am now considering a smaller IW391031 PORTOFINO CHRONOGRAPH at 42mm which is also at half the price of my first choice. At worst scenario, I might end up with the Mark XVIII series.

There is also the heritage Mark XVIII. It is gorgeous and less extreme in size.

I went with a IW389001. Being ceramic the 44mm looks smaller than its size.
