    Question 70's Stowa Quartz

    Hi

Just took a £30 eBay punt on this, delivered this morning.

Supposedly an early 70's Stowa Quartz from about 1972/3. The back and the crown are unsigned.

It looks 'right' to my untrained eye and certainly wears well being a 38mm case.

I presume Stowa didn't make any Quartz movements inhouse so would be grateful for any information about it or who might have made it.

I'm not sure if the bracelet is original, of the period yes, but it feels a little insubstantial compared to the rest of the watch - and again is unsigned.

I'd be grateful for any information - especially opinions on whether you think its genuine or fake. (It was worth a thirty quid gamble IMHO) and also about the history.

    Many thanks

    Re: 70's Stowa Quartz

Typical quartz watch of those times. Absolutely no fake, because at those times watches of this price range haven´t been forged.
Bracelet seems to be out of the same time period. Can´t say if it was fitted already when leaving the Stowa premises but it is time identical so it wouldn´t bother me.

Thanks Mike - that's good news.
You can see that the crystal is scratched but they show up worse on the photos than in actual wearing.
I presume the quartz movement would have just been "bought in"?
All in all, quite pleased with my £30 gamble.

Yes you are right. Stowa never made in-house movements.
