I would be amazed if anyone had- €4200 euros!!!! I just cannot understand the pricing for a watch with a pretty bland ETA movement (I know they are decent movements but not in a watch of this price from Stowa- it's almost the same price as a Rolex Oyster Perpetual or a Glashutte Original).

If it had something a little different like a Durowe movement I would think it's better value but to turn it over and see almost the same movement as a €700 euro Stowa I would find very dissapointing.

Well, it is 2824-2, but it is modified version with chronometer certificate, not the standard top grade 2824

I think the movement is okay, but still overpriced
it would be more reasonable at 2500 - 3200

Nice looking but too pricey given the basic movement, IMHO.

I've been meaning to ask the same question... it's never mentioned and I don't believe they had it at the Wind Up show either. Was it at Munichtime? Does anyone own one?

I'm on board with the general sentiment. I really like unique watches like this (I get it, it's not for everyone) but the price has kept me from taking a serious look at it. If it were more in line with other Stowa pricing (or even in the ballpark) I would seriously consider it.

EDIT: I assume it's the tricky case manufacturing mentioned here:

    http://wornandwound.com/introducing-stowa-rana/

that increases the price so I'm certainly not saying Stowa is trying to fleece anyone, but it still doesn't mean I can personally make myself pay that many thousands of dollars for a 3-hand ETA watch.

    Re: Did anyone get Rana?

Well, this kind of back comes back to the fact that a watch is only worth what you're willing to pay for it. Obviously "precious metals" and true manufacture movements add to cost, but you're essentially paying for the name. How else could Tag, for example, charge (and sell) $2,000 watches with quartz movements. Regardless of any other justifications, you're paying for the name. Stowa offers great value for the money so, yes, it's unusual to see a Stowa priced around $4,000. However, I also own Orients that technically offer even more value for the money (assumed price to manufacture vs. price charged). And there's nothing obviously lacking in the finish of those Orients either. I'm sure Patek Philippe offers beautiful finishing but that doesn't justify over $10,000 for a stainless steel, quartz Nautilus. But if you want a Patek, this is about as cheap as it'll get. And there are plenty of big name brands that use ETA movements with minor modifications that charge over $4,000 for automatics...it's all in the name. At least the Stowa Rana offers a unique case that, apparently, costs a bit to manufacture, is completely hand-finished, and has a beautifully decorated chronometer movement with woodpecker-neck regulator. Is it "worth" it? Sure, if you like the watch and you like Stowa. I like Stowa, but the watch is not my cup of tea...not now, anyway. Nor is it currently in the price range that I'm willing to spend on any watch. If you're willing to pay for it, than it's worth it.
