Before I will show you pics of the Stowa Genusswanderung 2018 and the Stowa novelties I`d like to address a big THANK YOU to the Schauer family and the great Stowa team for a wonderful, pleasant and eventful day. Regine, Jörg and the team have been wonderful hosts. Everything was planned thoroughly, nothing was left to chance and so the guests could fully enjoy the hike, the food, the fringe events (winetasting, trying out handmade mountain bikes, tasting delicious chocolates and truffles by German Chocolate Master 2014 Kevin Kugel), watching the FIFA World Cup final match and, of course, seeing and grabbing the Stowa watches in the flesh.
We met a lot of old friends and forum members (Hi Patrick!) but also met new friends from the Czech Republic, @tempusX, @kuba.ge on Instagram.
The Stowa hike
This year my wife and I decided to join tour/group 3, an app. 10km walk from Castle Neuenbürg to Salmbach where the Stowa Schwarzwaldhaus is located.
We met at the Schwarzwaldhaus at 09:30 and left at 10:00.
Tour 3 included a 20 min ride with Pforzheim`s Goldstadtbus from Salmbach to the starting point in Neuenbürg.
The Goldstadtbus was made by Neoplan in 1965, 125HP, and got already 2.600.000 km on the teller. No power brake unit, no power steering. Pure joy !
The walk took about 2:20 and when we arrived the Stowa Team served swabian specialities like "Schwarzwaldplatte" and "Maultaschen with Kartoffelsalat", "geräucherte Forelle", followed by hours of informal get-togethers inside of the Schwarzwadhaus and in its garden. Good mood was insured though.
On the tour I was wearing my TO2....
....while other participants were wearing both, Schauer (Patrick was wearing his Schauer Einzeiger, saw some Kulisse 10 and 13 as well) and Stowa watches, I also spotted some Seiko, Omega, Panerai and Breitling.
After enjoying food and drinks it was time to climb up the stairs to see the " Schwarzwaldhaus show room" with some 2018 Stowa novelties.
Flieger Klassik 40 Weiß
The Classic 40 White still features the authentic B-Uhr design but - as the name indicates - comes with a white dial. Two movements are available, ETA 2824-2 in basic or top finish or ETA 2804-2 for those liking a handwinding version more.
The basic model comes with black laquered hands, for an additional fee of €50 you will get thermically blued hands.
Flieger Klassik 40 Baumuster B Datum
The new Flieger Classic Baumuster B Date is available with two movements as well, ETA 2824-2 and ETA 2804-2. I was sceptical on the date window on a Baumuster B dial, however that may be I learned that Stowa successfully show that it is possible to build a date window which is hardly noticeable at first glance. I tried to take some pics in different lighting to show the different visual effects.
The Flieger Verus 40
The Verus 40 is another interpretation of the legendary Stowa observer watches, still with the Stowa DNA but with a "bold" appearance. For a price of €660 a nice entry watch, imho.
The Stowa Prodiver White
Unfortunately the Stowa Team didn't had the new Prodiver White on display. However, after having asked for it they showed me a very first prototype with black hands they had in a drawer.
Hands will be available in black, orange or limette, coated with SuperLuminova C3.
Antea Klassik KS Roman Rosé
Not a new model but worth some shots.
A splash of Orange
A splash of Limette
A collector's Prodiver with stainless steel, carbon dial, limette hands and limette ruber strap, silver bezel
Vintage Stowa and Watchmaker at work
In a second room Stowa displayed some of their vintage watches. Some randomly chosen shots:
Three Stowa watchmakers have been on site to inform the uniformed about their work and explained how a mechanical watch works. They also did some minor repairs, checked accuracy and water resistance.
We had a great day.
