    Flieger Crystal Question

Well looks like I'm strongly considering the Stowa as my first Pilot.

One of the things I'm wondering is does the Stowa have Anti reflective coatings on the inside?

Both Laco and Steinhart have this on their Fliegers. So, hopefully Stowa does too.

    Cheers.

    Re: Flieger Crystal Question

It is my understanding that the current Fliegers do not have any AR Coating. I believe the Marine Original, Flieger Original, Seatime and Prodiver have internal (inside of crystal) AR Coating. I could be wrong though.

Maybe we need further clarification from Stowa

    solman,

    stowa's response (see #9 and #14):

from this thread, i gathered there isn't AR coating on the current flieger lineup.

..............i gathered there isn't AR coating on the current flieger lineup.
    Just the opposite to me:
I tend to qualify Joerg's post (#9) higher than what Tobias (#14) should have said.
...and Joerg wrote that there isn't -and won't be in future- " double AR", because of easy scratches in the outer AR and "costs for clients for changing sapphire and much more service work for STOWA".

That's why I am considering that all -at least current- Flieger watches do have an inner AR coating.

.........it would be easy to change from inside coating to double AR in a new serie if i would like to do, it is not a matter of costs !!
If there are any doubts left, please send them an email: [email protected]

    Re: Flieger Crystal Question

The problem with Jörg's post is that he does not explicitly state that all his watches have AR coatings. He simply makes a statement that it would be easy to change from inside coating to double AR in a new series. I believe that he does use inner AR coating on some of his watches; it is these watches that I believe he is referring to. I do not believe that he uses outer AR coating on any of his current offerings but it sounds as though he tried it in the past.
The response from Tobias on the other hand is very specific.
Hopefully Jörg will see this thread and post a definitive answer.

If you receive it and it isn't anti-reflective, send it back for a full refund. Companies that mainly sell over the internet without the possibilities to try on a watch before purchase - like Stowa, Doxa and other (great) watchmakers - should try to evade evasive and suggestive statements or descriptions at all costs to not disappoint customers.

    My 2 cents.

Why not send an email to Stowa and ask? Simple enough. Then you can post back here and we'll all have the answer.

Man, this debate has been going on for ages! How can this be so ambiguous? Yes or no. Let's get a final answer on this, please!!
