    Ikarus - curved crystal?

Just checking. I assume it does, just like the regular pilot watches from Stowa. Just wanted to make sure in case I decide to get one. Thinking of putting my Seiko up for sale to help fund the purchase. I had a COSC fleiger with date and logo years ago and always regretted selling it.

The Ikarus seems a tad cheaper than the black dialed flieger. Any reason besides maybe being less popular?

    Thanks

I had the Ikarus and was a great watch. Crystal might be slightly curved (from memory), but if it is, it is very subtle.

    Ikarus - curved crystal?

    The crystal is curved, yes.

As for reasons it’s cheaper, in the standard spec it has:
    - Elabore rather than top movement.
    - Black rather than blued hands.
    - Regular rather than blued screws on the movement.
    - A standard 2824 rotor (but with a Stowa logo).

You can customise it to have all of these I believe (some may require an email to Stowa), and if you do the prices come out very similar.

Thanks! Yeah, if I pull the trigger I'm going with the nicer movement plus the blued hands for sure.

I ummed and ahed over blue or black hands for a long time but went with black.

The blue are undoubtedly nicer in isolation but the matte black set is a bit cleaner with that dial and easier to match straps with.

Black hands work better on Ikarus IMO

Yeah, I seem to be in the minority when it comes to the blued hands on this watch. But it's 100% for me on the blued hands I just love them, and I love how they shine with that silver dial. But I definitely understand the opinion about the black hands. I think they both look awesome.

Also tempted to go with a standard Flieger with the black dial. Or several of the other new offerings that weren't available when I bought mine over ten years ago. But I've had the black dial before, and while it was awesome I've always had some small regret that I didn't get the Ikarus. Too bad we don't see them in person around here.
