Just got my flieger today, a question about the lume

Hi all, I got my Flieger type A today. The shipping was amazingly fast, shipped from Germany yesterday and received it today by noon!! The watch is well made and looks fantastic. Here is a wrist shot on my 6.75" wrist, I think it fits perfectly.

Upon closer inspection of the watch I noticed that the lume application does not cover the entire number/markings, so in the lume shot below where there is sufficient ambient light to see the dial markings, it looks like the lume is doubling and has a dark outline. It is not evident when it's pitch black and barely visible during normal lighting.

Just curious of this is the case for everyone? From the lume shots I've seen I've never noticed this until I got my own watch. Much appreciated!

Nice watch. I have the Ikarus model, and I never noticed how precisely the lume is applied on the numerals, though it looks fine at a glance in the dark. From your photo, it looks ok to me (though certainly not perfect), and I'm not sure I'd be concerned. But if it bugs you, contact Stowa and send some clear pics. With my Ikarus, the shade of the lume was much darker on the minute hand than on the hour hand, and it was very noticeable in daylight. I sent Stowa pics, and they had me ship it back to them and fixed it within two weeks; and they paid shipping both ways.

The lume is the same on my Flieger Sport...seems normal.

The lume looks about the same as my Flieger no logo too. I think you are good kwang411

Congratulations to your new type A!

It's a classic. Great addition. Enjoy your Flieger!

Thanks kwang411 for your sharing. I am a bit surprised by this lume issue. I now have to give it a second thought whether I shall buy a Flieger.

The lume application is definitely not on the same level as the likes of Panerai. I will post a comparison photo tomorrow if I get a chance. Doesn't really bother me too much since lume doesn't actually last long enough to be useful for me.

    Look forward to your photo.
Indeed what surprised me is that even on my cheap Seiko the lume application seems to be not worse.
Given the fact that the dial speaks volumes about a watch, I would expect Stowa would have achieved a "more perfect" application of the lume, especially the triangle at the 12 o'clock position.

What surprises me most, is that it seems that the minute indices aren't covered with Luminova...
I recently bought a Laco Flieger. There are all indices and numbers covered. Here is a lume shot:

I'd rather buy another watch than another car
