    Marine Klassik 40 on 5 7/8 wrist

    Hi watchuseekers,

I am shopping for my first watch, and was wondering if 48.6mm lug to lug would be too big on my 5 7/8 wrist? I really find this one beautiful, plus it's affordable!

And do you think the top movement is worth it for 100 euros? It looks beautiful..

The Marine Automatic goes well on my 6 1/4 wrist but I would have doubts for 5 7/8.

There were a very few models in 36 cm that were produced about 10 years ago. I have only seen some information here but never seen one for sale.

As the Flieger is now also available in 36 cm, you could ask directly to Stowa if they plan to also release a 36 MA in the future.

I have a 6.75 wrist and the Marine Automatik looks pretty big on it. Part of the reason is that the bezel is nearly nonexistent and the dial really "pops out" as it is glossy bright white. Definitely a beautiful watch, but I would counsel a midsize for your wrist circumference. I sold a 90s IWC Ingenieur earlier this year that would have been the right size for you (36mm)...I would hunt in that size range.

I would agree that it might be pushing it for size. Great looking watch but I am sure it does wear bigger than it's specs especially on smaller wrists.

I think the top movement is worth the extra $100 or so. Both my Marine Auto and Antea B2B 355 have top grade movements.

I understand some components in top movements are better than lower grades, Glucydur balance wheels and Anachron hairsprings are more stable over varying temperatures and are less magnetizable. Which means your movement may be more accurate than lesser grades (if properly regulated).

And the blue screws are so pretty.

Yes the top grade is definitely worth the extra $100.

Let's say you pay $50 for the COSC cert and $50 for the cost of higher quality parts and adjustment.
