    Marine Original Dilemna

Okay, so after some consideration I have my heart set on a Marine Original... but now I have a problem... Roman or Arabic numerals? They are both gorgeous... ugh. I don't know how to decide. The other watches in my collection are Arabic, so it I will maintain cohesion if I go that direction. But the Roman is beautiful. What are your opinions? Do you think that Roman is more suitable for this watch? Any input would be appreciated.

It is entirely up to your choice. When I got my MO arabic numerals was the only choice, but I would still go for the same. Reason: I like the fact that the MO is a homage of the historic marine watches Stowa made, pocket watches used for keeping correct time on a ship. They were not marine chronometers, but were synchronized to the ship chronometer and used for secondary purposes to tell correct time on a ship. All of these were having arabic numerals. Search on this forum and you will find pictures of the old marine Stowa pocketwatch.

Love both, have the MO 80th LE, and I almost like the Roman better. Tough call.

If you want to stick to the true "DNA" origins of the watch, then Arabic is the only choice.

Given the choice between the 2 regular MO's, I think I would go with the Romans. Really Striking.

I do like Roman, but not that font offered for MO.
I do like porcelain dial but I don't like enamel lacquer at all.
I'd go for Arabic, if any other variations will come up.

    i voted arabic.
In marine original, there is original, and the original is with arabic numbers. There are some pocket navigation watches with roman numbers, but it seems that stowa didn't produce some like these.
here is mine with one of her ancester:

    Go for Arabic number!

I am leaning towards Arabic... especially with the point about the ancestry, I would like it to look like the pocketwatch. Is the porcelain dial on the limited edition with the red 12?

yes, and that's a good point for this version. Many people find the dial of the "normal" MO, too flat, not nice enough.
I would prefer a dail like the nomos tangomat, but for this range of price, this dial is very acceptable!

Personally I have never liked Roman dials, but if I were ever going to get one the MO would definately be on my short list.

Another vote for the Arabic--for the historical reason already explained, and also because the subdial cuts into the hour markers on the Roman dial. I just don't like that.
    Cheers,
