My vintage pre-antea with beautiful arabian font (1940s)

    Hi.

This is Du-San Baek in south Korea.
Recently, I have got the vintage stowa watch which seems to look like pre-antea model through Ebay (from the good italian seller. If you want to know who he is, just send me text. I`ll let you know his ebay ID)

This watch is suspected to be made in 1940s. (Is there any know exact information about this?)
Surprisingly, This is never used. Also, all parts is original too, even the strap!

Case is composed by two parts, chromed upper case and steel lower case. It has a "fixed lug" as traditional vintage watch. lug width is 16 mm. The movement may be "UNITAS 146", with 15 jewel and geneve striped. balance wheel has a many screws to adjust their balance. the mineral glass is "dome shape" not flat. It gives an impression to feel "warm" you know.

The hands is really beautiful ever! Look that color. So lovely.Especially, the arabian number font is unique. the 2 number have a funny shape, and 0 in 10 number is so cute.
When I saw this watch, I could realize that the Stowa is true pioneer in terms of design. How made it in 1940s...Amazing.

There is no need for words. Here is pics

    Congrats on your watch!

This is a similar one I found four years ago during a liqidation of an old watchmaker's shop:

Its lugs are connected by fixed bars and the movement is a UNITAS 6310.
I estimate the watch to been built in the late 30s / mid 40s,

That's quite lovely. I never really noticed the typesetting in the '10'.

What lovely bridges. Would love to see similar in perhaps a limited edition MO or Antea (of course at an increased cost).

I've seen some old Stowa's on Ebay and wondered what it would cost to refinish them.

Depends on the overall condition, the parts needed, the repair and refinish work to do and the watch maker you ask.
    Kind regards
