i just joined up here as I've always been interested in quality watches and am now in a position to build up my collection. I've had a few Omega's in the past and a few years back (after months of research!) I bought myself a Tag Heuer Carrera CV2010 and absolutely love it. After 7 years of owning it and wearing it daily I am still in love with how it looks and feels and I'll never part with it. But I've been thinking recently about building a nice collection that can ultimately be passed on to my daughter, after I've enjoyed them, obviously:)
So after a lot of reading online it seemed a lot of people mentioned Stowa as quality watches that were competitively priced and I thought one of these would make a good starting point. Specifically I think I'm going to push the button on a Flieger T01, a gorgeous classic design with strong internals and amazing build quality. I then found out about Schauer and started drooling over Jorg's designs and thought I might fancy one of his chronos instead. I then exchanged a few emails with Stowa in Germany about the T01 and also enquired about an edition 12 Schauer, which is such a beautiful watch. Actually, all of Jorg's designs appeal to me and I wouldn't be surprised if I end up with a number of his watches locked up in my house!!
Marcel from Stowa has been great on email and I'm currently waiting for the Stowa book to arrive and will make up my mind and order sometime in the next two weeks. And I think I may buy two watches to start with.... Life's too short, right?!
Thanks for all of the great articles and opinions I've seen on here so far, I hope to be able to contribute at some point too. I'll be back to update you all on the outcome of my reignited interest in great watches and maybe I'll show you some pictures of any purchases I make in the not too distant future:)
