Re: New release: Stowa Partitio 41 Small Second

Although being a fan of watches with sub-seconds dial I have to say this latest Partitio version kind of misses the mark and I mean that literally. Part of the charm of the Partitio is its attention to detail with respect to its hour and minute markers. It speaks refinement. What I don't understand is why the sub- seconds dial is devoid of seconds markers and uses a simple cross-hair design instead. It almost conflicts with the overall aesthetic of the watch. Perhaps going with the former might make the overall look a tad busy, I don't know but those are just my thoughts.

It actually never struck me as faux aged lume color (which I generally don’t like) until I read that Stowa calls the color “old radium”. I still like it, maybe because it’s against a white dial.

Very much agree. Maybe it really wants to be a Damasko ?

Small seconds are an old style look, the Partitio is, IMHO, meant to be a modern-looking watch for its time. Per my earlier post, center seconds would look better (but not possible with an unmodified ETA 6498).

It's quite the conundrum, eh? I thought the Partitio was first introduced many years ago and with Stowa revisiting it does suggest a retro/vintage design. That said, there are many designs done back in the early to mid 20th century that still look modern today. So I would agree that the Partitio was and is made to look modern. The question is how do you pull it off with a sub-seconds dial? Perhaps a compromise by just adding 15 seconds markers to it so the sub-dial doesn't get too cluttered?

Agreed, part of the Partitio's appeal is the retro design - different but not dated. I checked Stowa's description of the Partitio, it dates to 2008 and is based on a 1930's design, here's Stowa's photo showing both:

I think a lot of Bauhaus and art deco designs still look good today because they are clean and balanced (Antea, anyone?).

I normally like small second dial. But for Partitio I prefer the central second model. Strange

Re: New release: Stowa Partitio 41 Small Second

    Hi,
My opinion is that the small seconds dial with simple cross hair is only o prototype.
In my mind, a Partitio small second must be something between a "normal" Partitio" and that 1936 military watch from Stowa Museum.
I see it: black (in no case white) and with a small second dial like that 1936 watch.
And I am sure that I would buy a black one.
