    Picture of Airman 2801 movement

    Hello Jörg

I am curious about the finish of the movement in the recently announced Airman LE with manual wind ETA 2801. Could you please post some pics of this movement on the forum for us who had the luck of being able to pre-order one recently?

    Best regards

    Pierre

Mike writes as follows in his review:

"Jörg Schauer and his crew did some additional work on the ETA 2801 to get it nicely finished
    with

 Perlage on the base plate
     Stripes on the bridges
 „Sonnenschliff“ on both gear wheels
 Blued screws (heated and not painted!)"

To my knowledge, nothing has been said yet about any "additional work" being done on the current version of the Airman 2801. Hence, my question stands unanswered.

    Regards

    Pierre

I don´t know about the finish. Even if there would be additional work you can´t see it because of the solid case back.

It's like with a gorgeous wife - you don't need her wearing a short skirt 24-7 to appreciate her having beautiful legs.

Maybe Jörg can tell us something about the movement's finish. Like with the wife, even though it's covered I'd like to know what's behind the the lid.

    Kind regards

What I picked out from that review...

    Date of purchase: June 2005
    Price: 570,-- Euro (incl. VAT 16 %)

So - nearly some four years later (by the time of delivery), and German VAT increase by 3% the price of this version is some €80 less

That's great value (not to mention impressive)

So what exactly are we comparing the movement's finish to?

    Cheers,

Jörg, could you please bring some actual facts to this thread? Pics of the movement would be much appreciated.

Please remove the solid case back. It has been said that no man can see through it.....

I think you assuming that this F LE will be the same as the one made in 2005.
I think if you read my post about pricing of the two version - you will see that it is highly unlikely that any time consuming and expensive decorative work will be done on the movement...
...especially as it will be hidden behind a solid, but beautifully engraved, caseback .

But to satisfy your question - here's a pic of an ETA 2801

Stowa have designed & released details of the F LE - I doubt very much if changes, nor alterations will be considered for the 100 pieces.
