Problem with water resistance in Flieger?

Has anyone else noticed the Flieger does not have 5 ATM water resistance? I own a new Flieger, washed my hands (may have splashed water on it?) and it had water/moisture inside the watch. Tried everything to get it out, and so resorted to removing the back, which is easy to do. I noticed there is no gasket between the glass back and watch. I also noticed, with the crown open, there's space (not sure how the gasket works on the crown). I contacted Stowa and they said I had to pay to have the watch sent back but the warranty is not good now (watch was less than two weeks old).

Has anyone else expereinced these watches do not have seals/gaskets for water resistance? I now have a German watch I have to take off to wash my hands. Ha.

Which flieger do you have? I checked my Laco and it's 5ATM (most fliegers from other brands are also "only" 5ATM anyway). And i checked Stowa webpage where it clearly says Flieger is 5ATM also.

Those Fliegers are not water resistant at all. You have to be careful with water activities, including washing your hands. Yes, you have to pay for repairs since that's not covered under warranty.

For true WR you want a Stowa Flieger Klassik Sport, or Stowa T02, both of which are 200M WR.

Stowa indicates in their faq that 5 atm should be okay for showering. If you indeed ended up with water inside a 2 week old flieger from washing your hands, that should not be expected. If you explain the situation I would expect they will take care of you.

this is concerning; I love the Stowa Flieger with no logo... I hope this isn't common.

Me too! I'm on the verge of pulling the trigger on a Klassik 36

Problem with water resistance in Flieger?

Seems like an error in assembly. I have some vintage watches RATED for 1 atm that wash just fine including under the tap water in the summer to get gross oils off.

5 atm should survive full immersion for a few minutes without issue.

It's a Klassik 40mm Flieger. Probably my last Stowa. Very disappointed. It's supposed to be 5 ATM.

It is not common, of course. Otherwise this forum would be full of complaints, don‘t you think ? The Flieger Klassik 40 is one of the best selling Stowa watches since almost 20 years.

Could be an error in handling as well (crown not completely pushed in). If Stowa assesses an error in assembly they for sure would find a solution to compensate. That however requires to send the watch in. And that‘s what I‘d do in the first place.
