I say "stow-uhh," but I'm also from the South We say a lot of things to our own tune.

As for the correct pronunciation and please correct me if I'm wrong any German natives: "schtow-vah."

    Re: Pronunciation

My German isn't the best, but given that it's an abbreviation of the name Walter Storz, I'd say the pronunciation is "shtow-vah".

    Re: Pronunciation

    Shtoe-vah.

But it is extremely difficult to guide pronunciation with example likes these. (As you may be pronouncing "o"-"e", or "vey" instead of "vah"....)

Someone must know the international pronunciation standards and write it that way!

    Re: Pronunciation

    interesting question...
I searched a bit around about phonetic signs, and it should be

    ['ʃtovaː]

    (I used http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liste_der_IPA-Zeichen)

    Here are my descriptions:
    ʃ - like in dish
    t - like in time
o - you don't have this in english... similar to "more"
    v - like in heaven
a - like in hut, but long

So, I think 'Shtohvah' might sound similar
Maybe we have some linguists in here that can provide it really correctly?

    Re: Pronunciation

    Hi curtain,

I'm no linguist, but a native german.
Your explanation and the referring phonetic signs are absolutely correct.
