Question about no-date Stowa Fliegers - is there a phantom crown position?

    Hi All,

I'm considering a Stowa Flieger 36, either hand wound or automatic with the no-date. I want to know, is there is a "phantom" 2nd position for the crown or a hidden date wheel? If so I would probably just go with the date version (as phantom crown positions and/or hidden date wheels are a bit of a pet peeve), but if the movement is proper for a no-date dial then I'd prefer the no-date. If you can confirm if this applies to both auto and manual wind that would also be great. Thanks for the help!

There is no phantom crown position, for the auto I can confirm first hand, for the manual I can only say I’m pretty sure.

As far as I can remember it is always removed since some months/years where some older Stowa had a phantom crown position.

That depends on your personal liking. I think both fit well my 6"25 wrist.

I had a no date fleiger and as I recall, it did have a position for the date, so yes there was a phantom position - as far as I remember. But, I'm 61 and my wife will tell you that I that remember anything she says.

Never really thought about the fact that my 7753 doesn't have a phantom position
