    Schauer Watches

Hi members. I am looking for my next purchase. The reason for the question is that I am a Stowa Flieger owner- and the watch punches above its weight class by a huge margin. And I am totally in love with the design. That being said does the Schauer watch range offer the same value for money spent. I can easily see the Stowa costing double at a dealer and the buyer still getting a good deal.

Schauer is certainly a step up in design and finishing from what I can see-with some mayor exclusivity thrown in. But how robust are they- is it a daily wearer? Are they worth the big step up in price from the Stowa Chrono's? It SEEMS the changes on the movements are pretty similar to what is done on the Stowa's.

I really like the look of the edition 10 and 12's but are they worth the extra money- we are moving into some bigger prices here and some top end watches can be had on the 2nd hand market for that money. The Kleine Schauer One hand at that price point would have been a no brainer for me if it was a 40-42mm size.

    Re: Schauer Watches

Having owned an reviewed Stowa and Schauer watches I say that a Schauer is worth the premium.

The main attraction of all Schauer watches is the case, the Kulisse 11 I owned did not make any difference. The case of any Schauer really is the highlight. And no doubt it is a heavy one, not a lightweight.

The case represents Jörg’s perfectionism in every way. A closer look will reveal the love into details and a perfect execution.
The case is made by a leading German case maker, but it is known that Jörg touches up each and every one of them after they have been delivered to polish it and work on it personally until it has the Schauer touch. This is a time consuming process but it is a real benefit to the case and I am sure other companies do not pay as much as attention to their cases as Jörg does.
Once in an iW-interview Jörg said: “I do this because I place a great deal of value on the fact that my cases are absolutely perfect, I can do it better than anyone and I would never let anyone else do it for me.” Enough said to emphazise the uniqueness of a Kulisse case.

Owned: Kulisse 11 (see my review here on WUS)
Own: Kulisse 12 no 1 japan edition (hw 7753)
Own: Stowa Chrono 1938, cream/no date and black/date

Mike thanks for the feedback. I Will do some more reading. The Chrono 1938 is such
a stunning watch It will take me some convincing to believe that the Schauers are worth double. Altough they are certainly more my style.

    Hi Andries,

range the Schauer watches as an example for a very fair price and the Chrono 1938 as a steal,

I have been researching the 1938- it looks like such a versatile watch- nice and business like on a Croc strap and you can dress it down with a non taper strap from someone like Vintager or Toshi straps

    Re: Schauer Watches

I absolutely love my Schauer. I contacted the factory and order a chronograph edition 10 with modified case. They were great to work with and the watch is beautiful.

Do you notice a big différence mike between your TO2 case and the Schauer day date ?

    Re: Schauer Watches

What does "big difference" mean ?

    The differences are
    - different case sizes, huge visual difference, the Schauer appears to be way smaller
    - different bezels,
    - different dials, different hands,
    - different crowns
    - different movements, but comparable movement finish.

If your question refers to case finish only I tend to say that there is no big difference.
    Kind regards
    Mike
