    Snagged my ideal dress watch

Stowa newbie here, and am glad to say I finally see what all the fuss is about. Recently picked up a very gently used Marine Original (old logo, yes!) and think I can finally put to rest the search for my long term dress watch. I love hand winders, and pocket watches, and having a dress watch with a hand wind pocket watch movement is even better than I figured. I'm especially a fan of the slow, inexorable "tick tick tick" you can hear from about three feet away.

Been working on buffing out the light scratches around the bezel, tonight I think i'll have almost all of them gone. Very excited about this one, can definitely see one of the boys inheriting it some day.

    Congrats on this beautiful watch!
Beware of its dangerous contagiousness: My first Stowa was a Marine Original too............................and the start for a collection of some hundred Stowa timepieces now,

Re: Snagged my ideal dress watch

Congrats on finding the Marine Original with old logo, I'm honestly surprised someone was willing to part with it! I certainly have the personal view that over time, the more classically-styled watches (e.g. Flieger, Antea, Marine, Partitio) with the old logo are going to start trading at a premium relative to the new logo watches, that is if they even trade at all. It's always a nice scenario to see the value of our "investments" in this hobby appreciate, though the best scenario is when they do appreciate but at the same time have enough meaning that they're going to be passed down rather than sold.

Thanks for sharing your find, best of luck buffing out the rest of the scratches, and wear in good health.

Re: Snagged my ideal dress watch

Wore it yesterday at work and am liking it more and more. Perfect size, clean looks, and when I'd pause typing I could hear "tick tick tick". Actually snagged it off eBay, not sure if they guy knew what he had since it went for cheaper than I expected. Only thing better than finding a great watch is finding a great watch being sold by someone who doesn't know watches!
