Stowa Airman - does the luminous glow last most of the night?

I'm considering an Airman, but I like lasting lume - does this fit the bill? Also, is it too small for an 8 inch wrist?

The Stowa "Airman" doesn't exist anymore. You're looking at either the Flieger Classic or the Flieger Sport. The Flieger Classic (40mm) is most certainly too small for an 8 inch wrist. The Flieger Sport, at 43mm, would be more appropriate for you. But it has a less appealing overall aesthetic due to it's case design/proportions.

Not many watches have lume that glows all night. Why is this a requirement? You actually wear your mechanical watches while sleeping? Ever heard of a nightlight/alarm clock/cell phone?

The Stowa watches I owned always had good lume. Not Seiko diver crazy, but I could still read the dial/hands after a good many hours.

Npt super bright, but not dark either.

I think they were using either C3 or C1, lume but I can't remember which anymore.

If you want all night lume and or super lume, some of the Seiko stuff and/or something tritium,IMHO.

It depends on how long the night is.
In case it was a short day joined by a long night, you might use a pocket flashlight to renew the lume impact.

Or............................you will enjoy such a fine timepiece all through bright daylight,

The flieger classic actually wears bigger than its size due to slim bezel and long lugs. Almost like a 42mm to me. Lume is quite decent but not as good as Seiko diver for sure. Around the same as Seiko JDM field watch.

The lume definitely last all night, I wear one to bed every night. I just can't see the alarm clock anymore with out my glasses. I have never had a problem reading the time.

As to size I think 40mm on an 8 inch wrist would be fine, unless you like wearing extra large watches......
