    Stowa Big Pilot

    Hi All,

I'm excited for the hand-wound Stowa Pilot that will be coming out eventually, and I want to make sure I reserve my spot. However, there isn't any news about it on the website. Any idea of when it will be there, and when the watch will come out?

It looks to be a terrific watch. Do you think it will be available with a large onion/turnip-shaped crown like some of the traditional versions?

    Best wishes,
    Daniel

    Re: Stowa Big Pilot

My hunch after speaking with Jörg Schauer is that it will be rather close to the original.

    Re: Stowa Big Pilot

    Dear Daniel,

thanks for asking about this watch.
But i can´t tell more at the moment.
It will come but i have many open questions i am trying to manage in the next months.
Keep focused on this watch - but i can´t´promisse to give more news in front of summer or late summer.

STOWA will celebrate it´s´80 th Anniversary next year.

For this i will create something special - but first i have to finsih all my projects which are in the pipeline.

I am sorry about this rare infos. (of course there are more details in my head - but please respect that i have to keep it secret till i can give more exactly details - this time is coming)

    Best regards

    Jörg

Thats was a good tease :-D

I think we should start a new thread with our predictions or contest for the closest prediction.

    Guys, no insider information :-X

    Cheers,

    ARGH!

Thanks, Joerg, for the teaser. I'm sure many of us are really looking forward to this watch (and whatever else is released for Stowa's 80th anniversary). I just want to make sure I get my reservation in for this great and historical watch, so I thought I'd try to plan ahead and actually have some watch funds saved by then...

    Best wishes,
    Daniel

    Re: Stowa Big Pilot

This might be a stupid question, but what does Big Pilot mean for Stowa?

I mean for IWC, it's the large version with the power reserve dial.....

For Azimuth the Jagdbomber has a small seconds dial...

So does this mean the Stowa BP will be similar? Or will it be more the traditional B-Uhr like the current Airman but at the traditional 55mm dial?

    Re: Stowa Big Pilot

The Stowa Big Pilot will be a slightly larger, handwound version of the current automatic Stowa Airman/Flieger ... think of the relationship between the current automatic Stowa Marine and the forthcoming handwound Marine original, and you can see where the Stowa Big Pilot is headed vis-à-vis the current auto Flieger/Airman.

Don't expect dial changes, though, but a slightly bigger case, and a handwound movement. Center-seconds will have to remain, of course, and I am curious to see if anything will be done about the crown.

    Thanks for the information.

That is what I though since in previous posts, it said it would be closer to the original.

I must admit thought that I would love seeing one with perhaps small seconds or power reserve like the Azimuth or IWC...but I understand those are only B-Uhr inspired.
