    Stowa handwiding movements issues

    Hi all,

Long story short - received a hand winding Ikarus but had to send it back as there were scuffs on the movement which I couldn't ignore. I sent it back to Stowa to get a new watch / movement replaced but got an email today saying all their hand winding movements have similar issues. Was refunded without asking for a refund (bit odd, maybe offer an alternative first?) so now I am out of pocket due to the transaction fee my credit card charged for paying in Euros through PayPal initially and also the exchange rate is in Stowa's favor as I am UK based. I'll see how much I am out of pocket once the refund hits my account.

Before you order a hand winding movement get in contact with Stowa as their site still allows you to order hand winding movements even though their current stock of hand winding movements have similar issues to the one i received apparently (was stated in email from their support team).

picture of the issue I had below:

Pretty annoyed but maybe I'm not destined for a Stowa?

    Thanks.

Out of interest, when did you order and receive your handwinding Partitio?

Maybe they keep all the nice movements for Partitios or people that order them from the USA?

    Re: Stowa handwiding movements issues

    Hello everybody,

its me Jörg Schauer,CEO of STOWA.

There is a big misunderstanding between the given answer from one of my staff and the reality.

    I am sorry about this.

The staff member completely misunderstand my information and gave the wrong answer.
(i was involved in this case and i am sorry how it works now)

Of course we have perfect movements, still if this one has small very small mikroscratches on one of the bridge.

The only thing i told my staff was „we have to find a 100% movement which is perfect for this customer“ and maybe we need a few to make a special control.

    And:
To find a 100% movement which allows to make a 20 x zoom is not easy, it is not easy even with much morer expensive watches !
(so we have to check maybe 10 movements to get a more or less perfect movement which allows a 20 x zoom;))

So, it is no problem to deliver all our watches with perfect movements, still if there are some small production related micro scratches.

We did this till today and we will do it in the future.

This delivered watch was surely a mistake in our quality controll or maybe it was my fault- surely someone told me if this movement is ok or not and maybe i give this matter no the need attention- so it is also my fault.

    So, what can i say?

The only thing is, if Chazmondo still wants to have the Ikarus i will built one watch by myself to satisfy him also like many thousands of other customers who both a STOWA in the past ;)

    I am sure we can.

Please let me know if you still trust STOWA and i will built this watch next week.

    Bye for now

    Jörg Schauer
    STOWA CEO
