Stowa Marine Automatic Imperfection? Or Intentional?

    Hello Community!

I just received my Marine Automatic with TOP movement from Stowa. It is a beautiful watch and I am absolutely grateful to posses one. Stowa's customer service has also been OUTSTANDING!

Today, (2 days after receiving the watch) I noticed there was a thin opening under the crown and lug. I wanted to see if this opening is intentional or if this is a manufacturing error. I have attached two photos to this post (one with an arrow pointing to the perceived problem). I worry that liquids could seep in the opening and damage the internal parts of the watch.

I am looking to see if anyone else has this opening on their Stowa watches and whether I should send the watch back to Stowa for repair.

    It’s normal - https://forums.watchuseek.com/f36/ga...er-837884.html

Thread mentions Fliegers but I believe the same is true for the marine.

Thanks! I apologize for not doing a more through search on this forum. Thank you sir for your quick reply. I looked at the other forums and it is true. This "opening" is normal. Live and learn...

The 36mm case may not have it.
I think I have it on all my 40mm marines.

I see. Yes mine is a 36mm. I wonder if this would have water, moist and more possibly dust slipping in through the gap over time..
Do any other watches from different brands have this?

No, it is not a real gap, it is kind of a lip, the case is tight.

    Yes.
    Kind regards

    Interesting.
I just stumbled upon this topic, and had never heard of this gap.

So of course I immediately checked my Stowa Marine Original, Arabic white, polished, 41mm case, 2012, under a magnifying glass, all the way around, inside and outside under direct sun. I cannot see any gap at all.

It may be that the reflections from the polished case make it more difficult to see, but in any case there is definitely no gap as pronounced as the one in the original photo or in the links Bradjhomes and Mike Stuffler provided. It doesn't concern me either way, but it is interesting.

Re: Stowa Marine Automatic Imperfection? Or Intentional?

Maybe it's specific to the Marine Automatic case? I just checked my Marine Original as well, and don't see any kind of space there for bezel removal.

My Seiko Alpinist has a similar gap as well, for removing the fixed bezel.

Addendum: Just looked at some of the linked threads in linked threads, and found this:
