    Stowa Marine original/classic dials

I'm going to purchase another Stowa marine. I had owned a marine classic white dial and regret selling it. This time, however, I want to get the plain dial with no date but the only version available is the silver dial. I don't like silver dials, but the stowa silver dial seems to be almost a beige or cream colour. This I could live with. Does anyone who has the silver dial tell me if it actually looks silver or off white in the flesh.

    thanks

Agreed, you'd get more views on the Stowa form.
My Marine Original has the silver dial, Arabic with small seconds (Unitas 6498).
If I did not know it was silver, I would not look at it and think 'hey, that dial is made out of silver'. It is indeed some sort of light beige/cream, but is not as boring or simple as that makes it sound. Depending on the light, it can actually have a very faint undercast of violet, which only really shows when the dial is against something pure white for comparison.
The place the dial really shows its stuff is in direct sunlight, where whatever surface treatment they used creates a very fine shimmer/sheen, as if the surface were micro-porous metallic. You really have to look close to see it....not blingy at all.
    It's very subtle and interesting.
The white dial would have more pop, but this silver one seems more sophisticated and elegant to me.
    Hope this helps.
    Dan

To me, it looks grayish-silver. But the color changes accordingly

    Hey George,
Check out the Marine Klassic's, 36 or 40 mm, white dials and they come with no dates, Arabic or Romans. I picked up a 40, ND, Romans and love it. The 36 mm was recently released. BTW, I sold you the Stowa you are mentioning :)
    Cheers from NB.
    Happy Thanksgiving!

    Re: Stowa Marine original/classic dials

Is the silver dial on the Marine the same color/finish as the silver dial on the Antea? I don't have a silver dial Marine, but do have an Antea, and the overriding impression you get from it is of a cream/beige off white, rather than a silver. That said, the white dials, especially the polished white/enamel like dials really pop and have more visual interest to me, like the one on my Marine Original.

I'd be amazed if there's any difference between antea's silverdial and marine's silverdial. Same dial manufacture, same process, should be same appearance.

Marine has a solid sterling silver dial, but I think Antea is silver coated--different process and perhaps a different appearance.
