Much thanks to lukkluj for starting this thoughtful thread which brings to light some of the personal motivations within this beguiling pastime.
I often wear my Stowa hand winding flieger as a palate cleanser after wearing or admiring watches of immense, sometimes overbearing, complication. There is an odd "yin and yang" in my collection however. One of my direct opposites to the Stowa is a Casio MT-G, with intricacy of dial, movement, construction and connectivity. That all melts into a singularity, a gestalt of pure pleasure when I look at it with my mind, not my eyes.
I cannot explain it other than to say, I enjoy wearing the Casio as much as the Stowa. It seems without one or the other, I would not have the same appreciation for each.
Hours are like diamonds...
I can see the appeal of the Verus and its utter, stark, simplicity and ruggedness. I am glad that it gives you contentment in its minimalism and ruggedness. I hope to find that myself some day.
Right now I'm succumbing to Deutscher Uhren Erwerbsstörung...
