    Stowa watch spotted in film!

    Hey all,

I was just watching a French film called Intimate Enemies (L'ennemi intime) about the French war in Algeria in the the 1950s...and what did I see? A closeup of the Stowa Armee Francaise watch on the wrist of one of the soldiers, at 37:11 of the film!

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0825248/

Very period correct too, as the soldier wearing the watch speaks of having fought in Indochina prior to being stationed in Algeria.

It was very exciting, as I have one in my collection, and I wanted to share it with you all.

For anyone interested, there is a thread about the watch here:

    Best,

    Stephen

There should be some kind of WIS award for spotting that.

    Very cool!

I'm always impressed when period films get the watches right, and the fact that it's a Stowa in this case makes it even more impressive!

One of two very good movies about our bad wars with Mon colonel (2006).

    Awesome, that's it! Thank you!

Yes, it was an excellent film. I'm a great fan of French cinema.

I also watched this one recently, and thought it was very good. The Battle of Algiers http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058946/

Were you already aware the watch was in the film?

Since I made the screenshots, I watched it again 'til the end. Nice music too.
The guies Magimel/Lt. Terrien (acting since he's a kid) and Dupontel/Sgt. Dougnac are great actors.

No, as I first saw the movie (and 2nd time too), I wasn't yet a WIS...

For many reason, I know that France "occupied" Germany and that German industries built things for them (as the Mercedes Unimog for the FFA —Force Française en Allemagne, French Forces in Germany) then I read your post about this Stowa Armée Française a couple of days ago...

The wardrobe & costume department did a great job.

Excellent observation, Stephen. You are kind of the main ambassador for these Stowa Armee Francaise by now.
