The first day of BaselWorld 2019 is officially in the history books. The day was capped off with our friends at Stowa winning the prestegious Welt am Sonntag magazine's "Uhr des Jahres 2019" (watch of the year) for the best classic design with their Partitio "Rote Sekunde" (Red Second). The other winners were Chopard, A. Lange & Sohne, and a little known Swiss brand named Rolex (they won 2 awards for the Pepsi GMT).
Congratulations to Jörg Schauer and his team of giant killers at Stowa Watches!
To add some bits to the bites. The „Uhr des Jahres 2019" was chosen by the readers of German watch magazine ARMBANDUHREN, news paper WELT am SONNTAG and ICON, a daily lifestyle magazine.
Interestingly second was the Clifton Baumatic von Baume & Mercier and third the Glashütte Original Senator Cosmopolite.
I think the winners show how different people percept what a „classic design" is about.
I voted for Stowa in this competition. Glad they won!
