Tips for sending a watch back to Stowa

So I am sending a watch back to Stowa for repair but this is the first time I have had to send a watch for repair to another country. I was just wondering if any of the more experienced forum members had any good packing or shipping tips? I didn't see another thread about this specific topic and I can't imagine I'm the only one who would want to know this info so I figured I would start a new thread. Thanks in advance!

Dont skimp on insurance. I sent a ezm 3 to Sinn for service once and they received the package opened with nothing left in it (the watch didn’t work, so serves them right).

I received my watch yesterday from Stows. Shipped FedEx international priority. Came in a standard FedEx box with brown paper stuffing as filler.

I've read horror stories like this which is why I'm a bit anxious. I'm sending the new Partitio Blau back to them and I would be really bummed if something happened to it as it's not like I can just buy another one. Although I'm not sure about Sinn but I've also read that Stowa's customer service is exceptional.

Tips for sending a watch back to Stowa

    Also very important!

Make sure your customs forms are done correctly! If you don't label it as "FOR REPAIR AND RETURN TO ORIGIN" it will be imported as a purchase and Stowa may have to take quite a while to correct this if they receive a tax bill. I've even had some companies add it to my bill when I've forgotten.

Customs forms, and if you have other questions, send an email to Stowa customer service.

Wrap the box like it was going to war. You want your watch well protected.

These things happen. I think in my case it was because part of Sinn`s full name is “watch manufacturer” or there about (in german) so the culprit could easily see what the package contained..
I did regret not insuring it fully..

I am still sorry that happened to you, hopefully you replaced that watch with something even better!

Thanks, it's exactly details and background like this that I had no idea about.
