    Unitas 6498 rate

Just curious what people have experienced with the Unitas 6498 in terms of rate gain. My new Antea is running about +24 sec/day right out of the box. I know, I know, you're supposed to let it settle a bit but honestly no mechanical watch I've owned has ever changed it's rate much once it settled. The Unitas 6498 is a different beast though and I wanted to know what accuracy you've seen and if it changed much over time. Thanks.

Not totally out of line, but faster than most of mine, which are usually in the 6-12 second +/- per day range if worn regularly.

If it does not calm down after a few weeks, might want to have a pro look at it just in case.

To clarify, this is both the stated accuracy and what I've experienced over time.

    Re: Unitas 6498 rate

Since June, I have been using an Android app named Watchcheck to record real-life deviations on all of my watches. I check them fairly regularly, doing so daily if I'm wearing the watch, and then weekly (more or less) if it's sitting in my safe or on a winder.

I guess I'm a little OC and keep my handwinds wound up, even when not being worn. I've heard both sides of that debate, and have decided that for me, I really do enjoy winding them.

On average, my 6498 Marine Original is:
    +9.7 on my wrist.
+8.5 dial up in my safe.

That is well within the specs Mike identified. I'm happy.

    Re: Unitas 6498 rate

So I have been checking the rate every day and it's been +17 - +19 sec/day pretty steadily. I'm scheduled to send it back to Stowa after the holidays but I'm wondering if i should bother. I'm also tempted to do it myself. it shouldn't be too hard with the swan neck adjustment but I am worried about scratching the case back when I remove it. Decisions, decisions.
