Had Terry of ToxicNatos and his watchmaker do a Spencer Klein sapphire swap, full gasket swap, and battery change on my 7c46-7009 SBBS018 just for reassurance and a clean slate on battery. Seems they did two pressure tests to be sure according to the invoice. Turn-around was about a week and the price was very competitive in my decades of vintage Seiko dabbling experience.
He went above and beyond in terms of generosity throwing in fatty spring bars (which are fantastic) and giving me the OEM silicon strap from his latest solar fools gold SNE498 tuna, because I had exhibited some interest from the start, and because mine showed some careless user damage. Very cool and wearing it now. Comfy.
The Gold isn't dead ringer but it's close enough... Plus, the silicon strap is too thick for the OEM Gold Ti hardware FYI. Highly recommended it for those with Gold Tunas looking for silicon, close enough Gold hardware, and who are apprehensive about selling-out serious coin for a 014/LE SD Gold Tuna Strap. I see little need to do so and more a reason to procure the SNE498 or find someone willing to part with their OEM SNE498 strap.
What’s great is that Terry had all the old parts in the bag so there’s no question on the work having been done: old battery, old broken gaskets, and hardlex crystal (should I ever need it).
