    Anyone acid and stone wash?

So I managed to score a SKX007 in a raffle for $30. I figured I would try to do a little modification to my taste. I recently bought a tumbler and started doing an acid and stone wash combo on a couple blades. I'm planning to strip down the new SKX and give it the business. The plan is to do the case, case back, buckle, and crown. I was wondering if anyone had done this treatment to a watch. Didn't find anything in an image search.

Here's a pic of the last knife I did.

I guess that's a no. I'll be sure to post pics of the process and results.

Well, this project kicks off tomorrow. My buddy the watchmaker is coming over to the house to help me with the disassembly. He wants to see the acid and stone wash process. So I figured it would be a cool project. He's a great photographer, and will probably get us some good pics. The detail in a good acid/stone job looks awesome.

    Pics to follow

Things went better than expected today. The finish didn't turn out as dark as I was expecting. But it looks AMAZING! The first pic is after the acid and before the first stone wash. It is now off to my watchmaker buddy for assembly on Monday. I'll post finished/assembled pics when I get them.

Here's a pic of the caseback. I covered the wave in nail polish to get a 2 tone effect.

Thanks. I thought it would come out darker than it did. But I'm happy with the results. Not bad for the first attempt on a watch. Much easier to do this on a blade.

Not it sure why I'm calling it finished. The new bezel inset and domed crystal will be here in two days. Can't wait.
