hello all. I own a nice mechanical watch which is too expensive for me to even consider opening myself, and it only accepts proprietary straps/bracelets. I was thinking to get a SEIKO SKX007 as a second everyday watch that would (1) allow me to play around with different straps/bracelets, and (2) I would service it myself and even mod it.

Does this sound like a good idea? Is the SKX007 a good choice? Would I need any other investment at the beginning apart from a $40 "watchmakers toolbox" and some cheap spare parts of ebay (or maybe get a seiko 5 as a donor)?
