Grey was the correct choice, since you seemed to be looking for something more boardroom than beach in this instance.
Had it been the other way round, then the cheaper blue option would’ve been the right call.

For the 3-hander, definitely the gray. Very cool watch. The blue dial on that version is more lilac/purple than blue, and honestly looks very feminine and just plain bad to me. If you are talking about the chronograph, however, the blue on it is not at all like the 3-hand watch. It is not the same but closer to the blue on the Pano dials. For the chrono definitely the blue is the better choice, but then again the damn thing feels like it is about 2 inches thick and is unwearable so that takes you back to the 3-hander and the gray dial. Great choice, congrats!

The blue really pops but maybe too much. Also, that white date dial against the blue (sun burst?) dial has always been someting that caught my eye in a bad way.

The gray is more stealth but still looks great. It's more of an understated elegance. Just giving my 2 cents even though it looks like you've already made your decision!

That was only on the early releases, which quickly got replaced with colour-matched date wheels.

It's still lilac colored, not blue.
