It was only two weeks ago that Hublot launched the Mexico Big Bang Ferrari. Now they have moved North of the border in order to celebrate the opening of a new boutique and the presence of the Scuderia in Texas. Hublot now unveils another exclusive edition: the Big Bang Ferrari Texas. Imbued with the DNA of both Hublot and Ferrari, the watch also pays tribute to the Lone Star State by reflecting its colours of navy blue, red and white, as seen on the state flag.
The Big Bang Ferrari Texas features a 45m titanium case crowned with a cylindrical bezel in black ceramic. The watch is powered by the UNICO Flyback chronograph movement (which can be reset at any time) and is visible through the sapphire dial. The UNICO movement was developed entirely in-house and was selected, designed and developed by Hublot expressly for the Big Bang Ferrari.
To mark the occasion, Scuderia Ferrari, for which Hublot is the Official Watch, is making an exclusive appearance, via its representative, F1 racing driver Felipe Massa, who did the honours of appointed cutting the symbolic ribbon.
The watch movement comprises 330 components and a frequency of 28,800 Vib/H (4 Hz), it features a column wheel and a double horizontal clutch visible on the dial side, as well as an oscillating weight inspired by the design of a Ferrari wheel. The power reserve is 72 hours and the watch is water resistant to 100 metres.
On the dial Ferrari’s famous prancing horse is featured discreetly in relief at 9 o'clock. A minute counter is positioned at 3 o'clock (completed by a yellow date window), and the hand and the style of the indexes are inspired by the counters in a Ferrari, in line with the Italian manufacturer's sport design codes whilst adhering to Hublot's signature look.
The watch comes on a Schedoni leather strap in navy blue and black rubber with tone on tone stitching, Again the prancing horse symbol appears discreetly on the back of the timepiece. As usual the watch is available in a limited edition of just 50 pieces.
The Houston boutique
As for the new boutique in Houston, it’s a fusion of styles: in the more private spaces, gilded velvet is combined with elegant fabrics to give a contemporary reinterpretation of sixteenth century mouldings. A new lighting concept has also been installed for the display cases, using focused beams of light to highlight the watches, movements and precious stones. The ambience is designed to be one of warmth and softness in shades of black and grey with contemporary furniture, including sofas and armchairs in full-grain leather, all hand-made in Italy.
