    Any tequila drinkers around?

I've been a scotch guy for a decade or so. Love it. Love the different regions, the different flavor profiles, the history ... all of it. It's been a blast.

Recently, though, I've been turned on to tequilas. I've only had a couple, but have been surprised to find the amount of complexity and nuance that can also exist there. I've also been surprisingly happy with the lightness, the crispness of the drink.

Any others here enjoying tequila? Any recommendations?

Sorry I’ve no input as I’m a bourbon man.

If you're a big scotch guy, you may want to try mezcal. Similar to tequila, but with a lot of the character that goes into a good whisky. A good tequila is usually cooked in steel barrels, giving it none of the flavor from the barrels, so you can taste the agave, a good mezcal will be smoked and given flavor from the cooking process, giving it a smokiness that tequila lacks.

If you're strictly looking at tequilas, look for one made from 100% blue agave. I usually have a bottle of Corralejo sitting around. It's not too expensive and I like the flavor.

I don't drink much "straight", but I do enjoy all sorts of cocktails that are booze forward. Tequila that is 100% agave is a pretty good change of pace and allows lots of options. If you haven't tried the various anejo styles, they're worth a look.

I haven't tried mezcal, yet, but it's on my list. Used to be dirt cheap, but it has become pretty pricey, while tequila is still a bargain. If you haven't tried a margarita made with fresh lime and a decent silver tequila, I recommend it.

I haven’t had tequila in a while but I enjoy straight bourbon and especially rye. I’d be interested in trying a few.
