    Best place to get Service

Do any of you have any suggestions on the best place to get a Service and repair done on a Bremont. Im new to this and need all the help I can get, thanks for any info.

Also what to you think a fair price would be for a Bremont ALT1-P that needs the minute chronometer fixed and doesn't come with papers.

First, the best place to take a Bremont would be Bremont, particularly if it's still under warranty. But assuming, that it isn't, and you just want to get it fixed ASAP, any decent watchmaker should be able to service a Valjoux movement.

Second, if you go to watchrecon.com and type in "Bremont," that should give you an idea of what secondary market prices are. Having said that, the state of the watch and lack of papers is going to hurt your prospects, to the point I'd guess you'll have to start in the mid-2000s and see what kind of interest that generates.

Thanks for the info Alysandir, I did look at Bremonts site and it said to contact your AD for service. I do have Govberg in my state and emailed them to see if I could get a estimate.

That, I do not know. However, I am under the impression that the only OEM part that Bremont supplies is the rotor and maybe the mounts; everything else comes as an ebauche, has finishing applied to it by Bremont, and is reassembled by Bremont. A watchmaker should not have a problem getting chronometer-grade parts (this is mostly in the mainspring and balance assemblies) for a Valjoux.

I found a repair guy close to me who is experienced and he said he can do the full service of the watch. The Bezel is nicked up pretty good but he may be able to buff it all out but not sure if he can get a replacement. The problem I am having is I contacted Bremont and they said the full service includes a new bezel but of course their price is $100 more and I have to ship it to England. Decisions Decisions

Me personally, I would pay slightly more to have it serviced directly by Bremont, especially seeing how your watchmaker will probably be unable to source an OEM bezel. Moreover, when Bremont services it, you'll receive a warranty on the work performed. Finally, contact the NYC boutique and ask them if they can take care of shipping it back to the Motherland on your behalf.

Vig, The watchmaker does include a one year warranty but I would rather have a new bezel put on then have it buffed out. I will contact them to see about the shipping and why they said to ship it FedEx I really dont know. USPS Priority International would be just as good IMO. Im going to ask to see if they will forward it over to England. Its really expensive via FedEx.

Just going to throw this out there, but if you're talking about a steel Bremont model, it is likely that your watchmaker will not be able to buff out scratches in the bezel. Simply put, the hardened steel Bremont uses is very scratch resistant (at least relative to regular 314 stainless steel), but it *cannot* be repolished. This is coming from Nick English himself. I would also recommend you let Bremont handle it, if you're really interested in getting the bezel repaired.
