MODEL 1 TI-GMT Vs. MUHLE SEEBATAILLON

Bremont really talks about Boeing titanium. The material cost $20-25 per pound. Bremont uses glycodure balance and Muhle uses woodpecker for precision. Both use ETA based parts.
Yes Bremont has a following, but the following has to be well educated and well informed. Yes pricing on luxury does not follow rational explanation. So in buying MODEL 1 TI-GMT, what other watches you considered? Did Muhle Seebatallion ever came across as an option?

Respectfully, you're comparing a dive watch to an aviation-themed GMT, so I'm not sure there's a natural comparison there, other than the fact that they both have a GMT function.

My AD carries both Bremont and Muhle - and to be perfectly candid - I gave Muhle about 30 seconds of my time, long enough to decide that the watches weren't aesthetically pleasing to me. The only option I compared my 247 Ti-GMT to was the Bremont Alt1-ZT, which is basically the non-Boeing-branded, steel version of the 247. Even though Bremont steel is arguably the toughest steel available in a watch (2000 Vickers hardness vs. Rolex 904L's 500 Vickers and Sinn's tegmented steel at 1200 Vickers) I opted for the titanium because of weight, hypoallergenic properties, and the fact that I simply favor titanium.

As for why I chose Bremont - for reasons other than aesthetics - I liked the optical clarity of the crystal (9 layers of anti-reflectant on both sides of the crystal), I liked the overall toughness of the watch (anti-shock mounts, beefed up mainspring & hairspring), and I honestly liked the fact that it has a Valjoux 7754 in it, because if push comes to shove, I can have that serviced anywhere (even though the custom Bremont parts may or may not be available). I liked the feel of it in my hands, how solidly it was put together for what is essentially a mid-range luxury watch. I liked knowing that I would be one of very few people walking around with this watch on.

Anyway, that was *my* rationale for buying one; it doesn't mean it's the right rationale for everyone. Buy the one you gravitate to the most.

    Regards,
    Alysandir

Thanks, for your opinion. I compared both watches, because they are both titanium, GMT and both can be used for recreational diving (after 50 meter depth I get scared especially in cold, murky waters).

Respectfully, the Model 1 is only rated to 100m; for most folks, that means surface activities, not diving. YMMV.

Also, the timing bezel on the Model 1 is bi-directional; not certain if you were aware of that.

Both are great brands. The Boeing model doesn't look like any other watch on the market, unless it is another Bremont.
