An Alpina questions for the forum

    Hello everyone

I am in the market for a new Alpina Pilot, and am looking at the gray (or anthracite) dial. I noticed that is it no longer on the Alpina site, so I am assuming it is discontinued. That makes my search more urgent, as it may not be available soon when dealers run of current inventories.

I have also noticed that the particular one I am looking at has some photos with a black date wheel, and some with white. Does anyone know why, or if the are from different periods, which is older, which is more recent. Here are two photos I found on the internet. (both are the 44 mm size, as there is also a smaller size available).

Thank you all as any info is greatly appreciated.
    Wishing everyone a great Sunday

I can't speak to the color of the date wheel, but I know this is a limited edition of 8,888 watches, so yes, it may technically no longer be in production.

One of the guys that works at my local watch shop has this model, and it looks great. The 44 wears reasonably, though it'd be slightly big for me (I tried his on), but the black ring on the outside of the dial on this model really brings it together. Just a sharp watch.

They are nice, but big even for a pilot watch if you have smaller wrists.See them on eBay now and then.

Might try this for another suggestion-Alpina 1883 Genève, Alpina Watches, alpina watches, and see how they respond.

Thank you both. I have sent an e-mail to the link on Alpina Site, will see if they reply. I have pretty big wrists, and wear up to 45 mm watches, without any problems. I went ahead and order this one, hopefully will be here by the end of the week.

Thanks again and have a great evening

Post on-the-wrist pics when it arrives!

I'm always curious to see how these fit. They're big, but I personally don't think they "wear big." I've tried on Hamilton 45mm watches that feel a full centimeter bigger than these 44mm cases because of the lug-to-lug length and lug shape.

I would get the bracelet model as the bracelet is fantastic.

I had to flip my super nice StarTimer because at 44mm and little bezel, it just dwarfed by 6.75" wrist.

Went down to the 40mm version. Much better for me.

Thank you. I have already ordered one, new from authorized dealer, at a great price. It is on leather, but that is OK.

    Thank you again
