I really would like to get this Frederique Constant limited edition chronograph. It's a beautiful art piece. But I thought these "Peking to Paris" watch has a red colored rotor with "Peking to Paris" on it but this watch from a reputable seller seems to lack thereof.

I thought every one of them would have this kind of rotor?

Does anybody know? are fake Frederique Constant a thing now too?

What is the best way to authenticate Frederique Constant? Can I send one to Switzerland and could they check?

I used to own the panda version of this watch, and from what I remember your watch looks authentic in my amateur opinion. My watch had the Peking to Paris rotor, but I believe that some of the production run had a different rotor like you've shown.

That watch has been opened before, for repair or whatever. But you can see the back casing isn't in manufacturer position, so the rotor has been changed out. from the looks of it, it looks like it has had some water damage, you can see some discoloration on the movement at the crown position. You should ask the seller why it was opened.

Manufacturer position? Not sure if this is indicationg of opening or not to be honest.

There is no discoloration, this is from the plating or a high polish finish and the cameras white balance. This is needed for the Chronograph's cam system to reduce friction and increase life of the cam system.

I do not have an opinion on this watch. I do not know enough to say if it's fake or not or modified or not.

it is an indication it was opened. Look at the markings on the back case, model number placement etc. It has been opened before. and that is clearly discoloration, I have eyes, I can see. Some parts are discolored whilst others are not. reflection by mirror polish isn't picky like that. Literally every picture on google images of the peking to paris has the model number next to the crown and pushers.

Shiny reflective finish, next to a gold colored rotor? That's why I mentioned the finish. May not be discoloration but reflection of the rotor, or maybe it really is discoloration. Notice how some shiny parts opposite the rotor are not yellowish. Yet parts near do have a yellow hue.

I have no experience with this watch so I did a little research. Based on what I can find he's right about the rotor. I have not found any of these watches for sale without the Peking to Paris rotor. In the USA or outside markets. Every single example with that exact model has the Peking to Paris model.
I would honestly pass on the watch.
