    Frederique Constant Manufacture

So I pulled the trigger on a Frederique Constant Manufacture watch and should have it by next week.

I had kept a very close eye on them when I used to collect watches.
I had admired the movements and really appreciated their efforts as one of the first companies to invest in Inhouse movements long before the dreaded ETA stock shortage and price hikes. Unfortunately no one carried them at that time, and the one who did was asking retail. 0 Discounts. Now I have found them at multiple places, many discounted but not by much.

I finally found it at a good price (Seems FC prices vary GREATLY). I will see how it goes.

Looks great man! Is that the classic? The slimline versions look great for me but I do miss the second hand because its one of the things that clearly indicate a mechanical watch I guess. Still though FC is one of the best brands for clean simple styling. I've always wondered just how much advantage the FC movement had over the stock ETA one do keep us updated.

It's the Slimeline collection, I got it precisely for the superbly clean dial. The FC710 brought the Seconds hand to their inhouse movement, I love the sweeping hands.

Advantage, not sure I havent bought any FC with ETA movements. But unless they use Top grade or chronometer grade, I doubt they will be as nice as the inhouse movement in terms of finishing, and timekeeping. Accuracy so far on my watch is excellent. About 2-3 seconds fast and so far holding on to this timing on its second day. Most of the regulation components are highly polished and well finished which helps with consistency and thus timing.

In terms of reliability, ETA definitely has the advantage.

Frederique Constant can actually match balance wheels to hair springs which also adds advantage in accuracy against many other brands in this price point. From their own words: The entire manufacturing, assembling, and encasing of the movement is done in house.
