My first Alpina! Alpiner 4 GMT just arrived.

After obsessively researching, and seemingly endless viewing of the same pictures time and again, I finally bought my first Alpina. I use the GMT complication regularly, so the Alpiner 4 appeared to be a good fit. Well, after a few weeks of waiting, my new watch found its way to my front door this morning.

Here it is with two of my other favorite things:

The Alpina GMT is one of the top looking watch with the 24 hour hand, one of the finest aesthetically, nearly pulled the trigger my self, well done.

I think it's a really good looking watch. The Omega and Rolex GMTs are both such classic pieces, but this one flies under the radar. I like that I can wear it without drawing 'label' attention. And the GMT complication works in a similar way to both of the previously mentioned. The watch does not allow the local 'jump' hour hand to move backwards like the Rolex. That may be seen as a disadvantage. But the upside is that the date wheel is operated independently of the hour hand. So, with the GMT master, you have to advance the date with the hour hand, which is kind of a pain if you need to move it several days. This allows me to advance the hour hand, and to quick change the date by moving the crown the opposite direction when in the same position.

This is the second Alpina I've seen in the last two minutes that knocks my socks off. It's stunning. If I had to relate it to a woman the name that comes to mind is Anne Hathaway. In the past few days I've been musing about acquiring a Rolex GMT Master BLNR. No more. Your Alpina GMT just wiped my hard disk. Congrats.
We may be lost but we're making good time.

I'm so glad you agree! It's really fine watch. Like anything, it has areas for improvement. However, I am really satisfied with it and think that it is sufficiently unique that it is its own design.

Here are a couple additional shots of the watch. Just to whet your appetite, of course.

I took full pics of the on boxing, and plan to post them in a separate thread soon.

Great choice. One of my favorite models from Alpina.
