    My First FC

I have been looking at dress watches lately and have been looking at this brand. I never took much notice of them before. For some reason they caught my attention and I settled on this piece with the silver dial and Roman numerals. What I really find interesting is the oval center area of the dial. I have never seen that before. I especially like the attention to detail in the dial work and the overall finishing. The case is entirely polished. I know it will likely be a scratch magnet so I will have to be careful when I wear it. The sapphire crystal is ever so slightly domed, less so than my Hamilton’s. The hand set reminds my of something from an antique clock. The gold colored rotor with Geneva stripes enhances the overall elegance of the watch. I have read mixed reviews about this brand but my initial impression is that it is good quality as one would expect from a Swiss watch. Using the Hairspring app on my iPad, it measures at 1.5 spd out of the box. I don’t care what Archie Luxury says about Frederique Constant, this is no dog poo.

The only thing I have noticed is that handwinding via the crown is rather difficult. The crown appears to have some very tight gasketing. Having searched this forum, it seems this is common to this brand.

It's not about the crown, ETA's automatic movements aren't designed for being hand wound on a daily basis, it's intended to be used only when the watch is at full stop. I have several watch with ETA movements, the hand-winding feels the same regardless of crown construction or movement grade.

I am enjoying it so far. I am really getting into dress watches lately after prefering divers for so long. While I don’t know a lot about FC, I get the impression that they are a good quality brand.

    Nice watch. Congrats.

I was looking at their in-house movements they offer on select watches.... Not bad for the price.
