True/false: FC invented the open heart watch style?

FC website suggests it invented the heart beat aperture dial in 1994 but failed to properly patent it, and now every open heart watch is a copy of their style.

What about tourbillion watches? Haven't those been around for ages? Or were they previously hidden from view?

I don't know, honestly. But I find it rather implausible that they somehow "forgot" to file the patent. I mean, isn't a skeletonized dial, which have been around a lot longer than 1994, I believe, just another form of a heartbeat aperture?

"...allowed other brands to find inspiration and duplicate what Frederique Constant tried so hard to present as its own."

LOL. That is pretty rich coming from FC, who "find inspiration" from Patek, Breguet, GP, Baume on a great deal of their catalog.

    Yeah, definitely not. Rolling eyes.

I'm a fan of FC, but inventing the open balance wheel feature. Ha. maybe the "open heart" name.

FC, of all should be careful about claiming who took inspiration from whom.
