    06. Case size and other issues

    Hi guys,

A new thread to discuss the upcoming case size vote and any other issues as the old thread was getting a little long in the tooth.

    Please start posting your designs!

Just wanted to warn everyone that the usual knee-jerk cries for 40-something millimetres needs to be thought through in the case of a square or rectangular watch. A 38mm Cartier tank (for example) is a vast thing.

Whether square or rectangular, I love the addition of gentle little curves....but no deal-breaker either way

With respect to the case, if possible i would prefer a curved case and not a flat case. The curve dose not need to great.

in terms of size I think 30mm width, and lug to lug of around 45mm.

Re: 06. Case size and other issues

On a square case, the size of the diagonal is equivalent to the diameter of a round case. As we all remember:

    hypotenuse2=x2+y2

so on square watch we need to take the square root of double the squared width

Width of square .... round watch equivalent
    30mm.....42.5mm
    29mm.....41mm
    28mm.....39.5mm
    27mm...38mm
    26mm.....37mm
    25mm...35.5mm
    (results rounded to nearest 0.5mm)

So I would be voting 26-27mm

edit: of course, if its curved then....then someone else needs to do the maths....

    Yup.

But I agree with Curved and judging by Der's approximations of sizes I'd probably vote for somewhere between 27-29mm. Although I'd be fine with it if it were bigger and the curve lessened the blow so to speak

Surely the above style being more rounded would want to be at least 37mm?
