Greetings my fellow Chinese watch enthusiasts!
Please check your order details are correct and let me know if anything needs to be amended.
14th August 2014 - Members can choose from either the display/clear or solid case back (see photos below). You can have the best of both worlds and order both for an additional US$20. PMs will be sent to interested members who reply to this thread so please check your inbox and let me know if you haven't received yours yet. Please don't forget to include your WUS login name and your choice of case back when sending payment :):)
20th August 2014 - I'm afraid production of the cream dial watch will be delayed by one month (ETA late November to early December) because the brass/gold chapter ring means a new batch of cases needs to be ordered. Personally I'm ok with the wait if the end result is closer to the original. However, if you don't mind the cream dial with silver chapter ring then ETA will unchanged at late October to early November. You don't need to decide until we see the prototype watches in about a month's time. Apologies for this unexpected turn of events.
Thomas, manufacturer of our CMW forum watches, will handle production.
"Another 1963?", I hear you say. There is always room for another mechanical chronograph or two in the collection, especially ones which use acrylic crystal, have a vintage vibe and are true to the spirit of the original.
Sea-Gull ST1901 hand winding movement
37mm-38mm polished stainless steel case, 14mm thick and 47mm lug to lug
Domed acrylic crystal front
Genuine black/brown leather strap with 18mm tang buckle
Shipping of the 1963 Chronograph is expected to take place before Christmas, 2014.
Each watch will cost US$220 or US$210 if you order two or more plus shipping. A non-refundable deposit of US$100 will be required if you wish to pre-order.
Payments will be accepted through Paypal. If you are interested please reply to this thread with the number and colour (gold or black) of the watch(es) required.
Deposits will be taken once 60 or more orders are received (an estimated 150 watches will be made initially) so keep your money handy!!! A prototype watch will be ready for viewing from around 40 days after we start accepting deposits and total production time will be around 75 days (or 100 days for cream dial with gold chapter ring).
Please use these shipping rates (from the ST5 project) as a reference. They are subject to change if Hong Kong Post increases prices.
"There are two shipping options available to members.
Standard airmail with tracking: US$25 for all destinations (+US$12.50 for each additional watch).
For example, if you have ordered 6 watches and you choose standard airmail, the shipping cost will be 25+(12.50x5) = US$87.50.
1) North America, including Canada: US$38 ( + US$19 for each additional watch)
2) Australia: US$30 ( + US$15 for each additional watch)
3) Europe: US$42 ( + US$21 for each additional watch)
4) Poland: US$48 ( + US$24 for each additional watch)
5) Asia: US$28 ( + US$14 for each additional watch)
6) Russia: US$48 ( + US$24 for each additional watch)
For example, if you have ordered 6 watches and wish to use EMS to Poland, the shipping cost = 48+(24x5) = US$120.
Note: To qualify for the combined shipping rate all watches must be shipped to the same address."
Here are the final, final renders and photos of the originals!!! Photos courtesy of Boey and many thanks to Ernie, Li Wei, Jeffrey, Michael, Ron G and members of the Design Committee for your knowledge and support.
