Do smart watches stand a chance?

Do you think Rolex will ever release a smart watch?

Two very different and unrelated questions?

    Stand a chance of what?

Rolex doesn't need to release a smart watch at the moment, but "ever" is a very long time...

The problem with these smart watchs is that you have to charge them every day.

I hope Rolex do release a smart watch for no other reason other than the amusing string of threads that will spring up from:

    1. fanbois being p.ssed off with rolex
    2. rolex haters hating on Rolex (and the fanbois)

    Only if they have to.
Would be interesting to see what they come up with in the luxury category.

I don't see why Rolex wouldn't respond to the market if that's what people want. I never thought Maserati, Jaguar, Porsche et all would be churning out fugly quasi-4x4s, but I'm sure they're big sellers.

Yes and Yes. I am a traditionalist that continues to be amazed at the mechanics of auto and hand cranker movements as well as the art of watch design. During the emergence of quartz movements, similar questions were asked. While most high-end watch makers pretty much side-stepped quartz, I can envision the functionality potential and wide open creative design possibilities of smart watches resulting in a very successful (read as new profits opportunity) new marking opportunity for the industry.
