Fossil Gen 3 Smartwatch - Q Venture Leather

Hi, I am from India and today saw Fossil Gen 3 Smartwatch - Q Venture Luggage Leather in the local market.

Was quite impressed with the watch. Need your reviews on this? Is this good or any other in same price bracket?

    Preferences -

    - Good battery life
    - Vast watch faces
    - Compatiable with m Android phone
    - Able to make calls via watch when sim is in phone only.
    - Other smartwatch features - whatsapp etc.

    Please suggest.

I have not see the Fossil Gen 3 Smartwatch. However, I have formed
    an opinion.

This watch has "estimated 24-hour battery life". That is probably
adequate for typical use, but is no longer competitive in the market.

It appears this watch is not able to make calls.

It appears this watch has a touch screen user interface. That would
    not be my choice.

While the Fossil Gen 3 Smartwatch might have good style and enough
function for many users, my suggestion is you look at other products
    to satisfy your preferences.

    Thanks,

It would meet several of his requirements because it has a touchscreen. Multiple faces, third party apps, etc., can’t be done with a traditional dial and hands.

OP, what the Fossil has going for it is a big company who should be able to support it for a good while. Might as well give it a shot, I’d say.

Is it like this one, but with a different leather strap?

Really, among Android Wear watches, there's not a lot of difference between brands. They all run the same OS (more or less) and have the same CPU specs (most are on Qualcomm).

If you're asking about case design and straps, that's all subjective and up to your personal taste.

Speaking of Qualcomm, they announced a couple months ago that they're bringing their new Snapdragon variant to market soon. They also said Fossil Group will be one of the first customers to use it. I don't know if the Gen 4 has it, though. (Fossil's specs in the above link don't say anything about its processor)

Have you looked at Fossil's own Misfit brand? I find Misfit Command to be a well designed watch with minimal smarts. Battery is 6+ months. They are affordable.

Yeah. I am referring to the watch that you linked.

Do you recommend this watch? Or have some other suggestion as well (may be cheaper than this )

    Regards.

To be fair, I’m not too knowledgeable about most Android Wear watches, despite what I had posted. All I can say is, whether it’s a Fossil or a TAG Heuer, they’re all basically the same inside.

You can generalize smartwatches into four main categories: Apple, Android Wear, Samsung, and Other. The best reasons to choose between them aren’t so much the watches themselves, but the platform & “ecosystem” that you use for the rest of your devices.

If you go cheaper, you’ll likely be going with previous-generation hardware and an older OS, taking hits in capability, efficiency, and security (the best way to stay secure is to always run the latest OS release).
