    Hello All,

I am looking for a relatively inexpensive and simple running watch that will log miles and pace...any help is greatly appreciated!

Do you need it to connect to your smartphone?

    Budget?

I should have mentioned that. As I only intend to use the watch for running, connectivity with my smart phone is not necessary. I have been looking at a few watches and it seems like one with GPS capability is the only option for recording distance and pace.

Regarding my budget, I'd prefer to spend under $150 on a basic watch. The Timex Ironman GPS seemed to fit this criteria, however the reviews I've read have not been very good.

If you just need GPS recording and not guidance, I’d say to try a Fitbit Surge HR, except that it looks like they’re discontinued.

Garmin is a solid platform, I think, as in the company is big enough and has pretty good online support. Their Garmin Connect site gave me plenty of info when I was using my Forerunner 410 (which has been idling in a box for three years...). They’ve got two running watches in your budget, the Forerunner 25 and 35:

Ever used Fitbit Ionic Smart watch?
Be it running, swimming, spinning, mountain biking, yoga or circuit training, the stunning settings to test Fitbit’s much-anticipated Ionic smartwatch. I put the smartwatch in its movements in the pool, on the beach as well as in the mountains to get an accurate result for some of those new features as like as its latest SpO2 sensor which monitors your heart-rate and up to 50 meters water resistance.

thanks all for the suggestions! I did look at the Garmin Forerunner and it seems to get great reviews as well. I ended up ordering up a refurbished Apple Series 3, so we'll see how it goes when I get it.

the selling point (other than the reduced price) was its connectivity with the Nike Run Club app, and it's going to be nice to use Apple Music feature as well.

Late to the party but an older series by polar is the m400. Had great reviews for the price. Just in case you don't like the apple

It's basic in terms of no import to PC or heart rate.
I use simple Timex GPS and it serves me well, but i got it on 50% off sale.
Samsung Gear Fit pro can be found within budget.

I'd suggest going for a used Suunto Spartan on Craiglist or Facebook Marketplace.
